Averett to compete against Division I teams in Smith River College Showcase in March

The Averett men's soccer team will compete in the first annual Smith River College Showcase on March 20 at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville. Averett is the lone Division III school in the event, which also features Division I teams from Virginia Tech, UNC Greensboro, Longwood, Radford and High Point.

All ticket proceeds from Saturday's Averett University basketball games will be donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, where a 7.0-magnitude earthquake devastated the country on Tuesday. The Averett men's and women's basketball teams host Christopher Newport University at 2 and 4 p.m. at the Grant Center on the school's North Campus.
