WINCHESTER, Va. — Averett came from behind before fighting off Shenandoah University 3-2 in the second of a pair of USA South Conference games on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars beat the Hornets 19-25, 25-20, 26-28, 25-15, 16-14. Averett (20-12, 12-3 USA South) fell to Methodist University 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-20) earlier in the day.

Freshman Brooke Hensley led the Cougars with 15 kills against Shenandoah. Junior Shannon Andy finished with 11 kills, while senior Jordan Maupin had 10 kills and 15 digs. Senior Marie Keatts had a team-best 23 digs against the Hornets.

In the loss to Methodist, sophomore Jesse Jones had 25 assists and Andy had seven kills.
