GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett dropped a USA South Conference match to Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon. The Pride scored two goals in the second half to beat Averett 3-1.

Greensboro (5-4-1, 3-0-1 USA South) took a 1-0 advantage nine minutes into the contest on a Tessa Hall score. Averett (4-6, 1-3 USA South), however, knotted the score by the 18th minute. Senior Hillary Wood collected a long ball, got past the Greensboro's back line and chipped her shot over Pride goalkeeper Katie Allegro. Senior Meghan Cole assisted Wood on the goal, which was her second in as many days.

The two teams remained tied until midway through the second half. Greensboro's Kelli Viana scored what turned out to be the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 65th minute. The Pride added another goal in the 73rd minute as insurance.

The Cougars got six saves in goal from sophomore Samantha Lupo.
