Marie Keatts was named the USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking the third time this season she has earned that honor.
Keatts, a libero from Danville, Va., averaged 5.4 digs and 0.5 assists per set last week as the Cougars posted a 2-2 record. In each match, Keatts' dig totals were match-highs. In a 3-0 loss to USA South foe Greensboro, Keatts tallied 17 digs and two assists. In a 3-2 win over Roanoke, Keatts contributed 31 digs, two assists and one service ace. In a 3-0 loss to USA South foe Christopher Newport, Keatts had 12 digs and two assists. Finally, in a 3-2 win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan, Keatts contributed 27 digs, two assists, one kill and one service ace.
Averett opens the first round of the USA South Tournament on Tuesday at home against Peace College at 7 p.m.
