GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett's dominant second half helped the Cougars defeat Otterbein College 60-42 on Sunday at Greensboro College's Hanes Gym.

Averett (1-4) pulled away in the second half, pouring in 41 points while shooting 56 percent from the field. It was quite the turnaround from the first half, which saw both teams struggle offensively. The Cougars led 19-13 at halftime.

The Cougars' offense was full of balance against Otterbein (0-4). Sophomore Kenny Hart led the team with 11 points and sophomore Chris Pagentine added 10 points. Senior Brandon Malone scored nine points and senior Mike Miller and junior Deran Burns each chipped in with eight points. Miller also had eight rebounds.

Nathan Edick led the Cardinals with 12 points.

Averett returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Washington & Lee University at 2 p.m. at the Grant Center.
