Five women's soccer players earn USA South recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Four Averett Cougars earned women's soccer recognition from the USA South Conference on Wednesday. Senior Hillary Wood and freshman Claire Armstrong were named to the USA South All-Conference First Team, while freshman Ringa Remes was voted to the all-conference second team. Senior Meghan Cole earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

Senior Kirsten Marvin also received recognition as Averett's member of the USA South All-Sportsmanship team.

Wood, a co-captain, scored a team-high 11 goals and dished out three assists while starting in all 18 games for the Cougars. Armstrong finished the season with nine goals and two assists in 18 games played.

Remes scored one goal and made two assists while providing an impact in the Cougars' backfield. Cole had one goal and two assists in 16 games.

Marvin started in all 18 games for the Cougars during her final season at Averett.

The Cougars ( 7-10-1) completed their season on Tuesday with a 2-0 loss to Greensboro College in the USA South Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
