FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Four Averett baseball players received recognition from the USA South Conference, which released its season awards on Wednesday.
Averett senior right-hander
Ben Hildreth was selected the USA South Second Team as a starting pitcher. Sophomore
Dion Wilder was also voted to the second team as a utility player. Junior
Eric McGuire received all-conference honorable mention honors as a utility player.
Senior
Tyler Grogan was chosen as Averett's representative for the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.
Hildreth finished the regular season 5-5 with a 4.88 ERA and 50 strikeouts, including a 3-2 mark in conference games. Wilder batted .417 in conference (.333 overall) while splitting time as a first baseman, designated hitter and pinch-hitter. McGuire, meanwhile, hit .299 for the season.
