MEBANE, N.C. — Averett carded its best round of the USA South Conference Golf Championship at Mill Creek Golf Course en route to a fourth-place finish on Sunday afternoon. Methodist University ran away with the title, winning by 33 strokes.

The Cougars shot a 298 during the final round of play, but their three-day score of 918 fell two strokes behind Christopher Newport University for third place. Greensboro placed second with a score of 898.

Averett's Brad Hartman carded his second consecutive 73 to finish tied for third individually at 5-over-par. Nathan Daly, who was one stroke behind Hartman, tied for fifth. Sam Mantiply placed 16th, David Hess was 19th and Joe Goldschmidt was 20th.

Methodist's Tom Cooper was the overall medalist with his 7-under-par 209.

Hartman and Daly were selected to the all-tournament team.
