All ticket proceeds from Saturday's Averett University basketball games will be donated to the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, where a 7.0-magnitude earthquake devastated the country on Tuesday. The Averett men's and women's basketball teams host Christopher Newport University at 2 and 4 p.m. at the Grant Center on the school's North Campus.
In addition, the Averett men's soccer team is holding a clothing drive for the earthquake victims. Anyone wishing to donate clothing may drop off items in the Grant Center lobby on the North Campus. Clothing pickups can also be arranged by calling men's soccer coach Ed Goodhines at (434) 791-5749.
