FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Averett freshman
Michael St. John was selected as the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. It's the second time this season St. John has earned the honor.
The freshman guard from Appomattox, Va., helped the Cougars to a 2-0 record against USA South competition last week by averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. In a 69-63 win over Greensboro, St. John contributed nine points, three rebounds, a team-high three assists and one steal. In an 84-69 victory over Methodist, St. John tallied a career-high 16 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
St. John was also named the rookie of the week on Jan. 4.
Averett returns to action Monday night against Bridgewater College at 7 p.m. at the Grant Center.
