FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Averett lost 9-0 to Johns Hopkins University before falling to host Mary Washington 7-2 on Saturday.

After getting swept by Johns Hopkins, Averett (0-4) faced off with Mary Washington (5-7). Senior Xavier Ruiz earned a 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 7-6 (8-4) victory over Sam Wichlin at No. 1 singles. Freshman Kiril Orlov earned Averett's other win at No. 3 singles. Orlov defeated Riley Baver 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-5. However, the Cougars couldn't capitalize with any other victories and lost by default at the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles positions.
