FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Averett's softball team had five players earn recognition from the USA South Conference on Wednesday, including four players who were named to the all-conference team.
Freshman outfielder
Lauren Daniel was voted to the USA South First Team after batting .448 in 29 games. The Halifax, Va., native scored 15 runs, drove in 12 runs and had nine doubles, one triple and one home run. She was also 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts.
Freshman
Heather Francisco was chosen to the USA South Third Team as a utility player. Splitting time as the designated player and as an outfielder, the Danville, Va., native batted .316 with seven RBIs.
Sophomores
Heather Carnes and
Emily Atkinson were selected to the Honorable Mention Team. Carnes, a first baseman from Gastonia, N.C., batted .276 with three doubles and 11 RBIs. Atkinson, a catcher from Danville, hit .253 with 13 RBIs, three doubles, one triple and one homer.
Freshman shortstop
Jenna Rudder was Averett's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team. Rudder, a Danville native, finished the season with a .310 batting average, six doubles, four triples and four stolen bases. She also scored a team-high 19 runs.
