In 15 seasons as the head coach of Averett's volleyball team, Miller has guided the Cougars to a 384-186 overall record and four NCAA Tournament appearances. In addition, Miller has helped Averett win nine regular-season conference titles and seven conference tournament championships. The seven-time conference coach of the year and five-time state coach of the year has mentored two All-Americans, eight conference players of the year, five conference rookies of the year and one conference libero of the year. In addition, 59 all-conference selections have played for Miller.

Before his record-setting head coaching career began in 1995, Miller served as an assistant on the Averett staff from 1990-94. Miller also serves as the university’s Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Operations.

Miller will join James "Boo" Braxton, Rebecca Clark, Vesa Hiltunen, Pekka Kaartinen, Brenda LaFlamme, Garry Pritchett, Norma Roady and John "Frenchy" Vigouroux as members of the Cougar Club Sports Hall of Fame.
