Women's soccer opens season with comeback win over Randolph-Macon
Freshman Annika Rindestedt scored the game-winner against Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday in a 2-1 victory.

ASHLAND, Va. — Two late goals helped Averett storm back to beat Randolph-Macon College 2-1 in both teams' season-opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Down 1-0 late in the second half, Averett freshman
Pernilla Milton tied the game with an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute. Just minutes later, the Cougars (1-0) took their first lead of the contest on a goal by freshman
Annika Rindestedt.
Averett fended off several late shots by the Yellow Jackets (0-1) to steal the road win.
The Cougars outshot Randolph-Macon 20-8 in the game. Junior goalkeeper
Samantha Lupo had three saves for Averett.
Randolph-Macon's lone score came in the 59th minute when Amanda Nelms' shot found the back of the net off passes from Rachel Stewart and Ashley Stover.
Averett returns to action on Sunday at Randolph College.
