SWEET BRIAR, Va. — Averett got the 2010 season going in the right direction with a 3-0 sweep of Sweet Briar College on Wednesday night. The Cougars won by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-16.

After winning the first set easily, Averett (1-0) struggled out of the gate in Set 2. Sweet Briar (0-1) jumped out to 15-8 lead on the Cougars, who eventually settled down. Sweet Briar didn't go away quietly though. The Vixens tied the game at 20-20 before Averett won five of the next six points to take the set.
