SEWANEE, Tenn. — Averett University men's tennis competed on the opening day of the USTA/ITA Atlantic South Men's Division III Regional Tennis Championships hosted by Sewanee, the University of the South. Sophomore

Alfonso Jimenez each won their singles matches, while Jimenez and junior
Nicolas Quevedo won their doubles match.
In B Singles play, Jimenez defeated Belhaven University's Claudio Adolfssen 6-0, 6-4. Lora topped Covenant College's Trey Wood 6-3, 6-1. Jimenez teamed up with Quevedo in the B Doubles to beat Belhaven's Dylan Throgmorton and Tracy Hilaire 8-1.
In A Singles, freshman
Oliver Lindqvist lost to Emory University's Scott Rubenstein 6-1, 6-1 and sophomore
James Wright lost to Oglethorpe University's Briton Richardson 6-3, 6-1. In C Singles, sophomore
Rustam Aliev fell to Sewanee's Robert Corey 6-3, 6-1.
In A Doubles play, Lindqvist and Wright lost in the first round to Sewanee's Jack Gray and Eric Roddy 8-1. In B Doubles, Lora and Aliev fell to Belhaven's Gabriel Ivanovici and Harry Amor 8-4.
