AUSTIN, Texas — Averett University junior
Samm Chandler was voted to the 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Women's Basketball Teams, which was announced Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
For Chandler, it is her second consecutive season earning Academic All-America accolades after making the Third Team a year ago.
A guard from Burnsville, North Carolina, Chandler was a USA South All-Conference First Team selection for the second consecutive year while also earning a spot on the USA South East Division First Team. She averaged 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game over 27 contests as Averett won a program single-season record 18 games while finishing second in the USA South East Division and advancing to the conference tournament semifinals.
Off the court, Chandler has a 3.96 grade point average while double-majoring in biomedical science and sports medicine. She also serves as the president of Averett's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Chandler was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team on Feb. 9, making her eligible for Academic All-America status.
