Defending conference champion Cougars add Reid as softball assistant coach

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University softball head coach Ashley Pyron announced the addition of Allie Reid to her staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Reid played four-plus seasons of collegiate softball, finishing her career at Division II Concord. Mostly a pitcher, Reid went 41-25 in the circle while setting the program record for career wins at Concord. She earned All-Mountain East Conference Second Team honors in 2015, and she twice earned MEC Pitcher of the Week accolades. She began her career at Division I Radford University.

In addition to her playing experience, Reid has coached the Loudoun Storm fastpitch travel softball organization while also giving instructional lessons for six years.

A native of Lovettsville, Virginia, Reid earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Concord in 2017. She is currently pursuing her master's of education in curriculum and instruction from Averett.

Averett softball is coming off a 2017 USA South Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Regional appearance.
