Averett University athletics teamed up with local Special Olympics participants for its annual fun day on Sept. 11 at the Grant Center. Approximately 350 student-athletes served as buddies or helped run stations for around 115 Special Olympic athletes. 

NCAA Division III schools has a continued partnership with Special Olympics, and each year Averett holds several events in conjunction with local Special Olympics groups.
